How To Cancel Booking Or Reservation
- Online Reservations: If you made your booking on the Europcar website, you can only change or cancel it there.
- Other Bookings: If you booked through their Reservations Service Center, a travel agency, or a third-party website (like Expedia or Booking.com), you need to contact them directly to make changes or cancel.
- Free Cancellation: You can cancel your car rental for free without any charges if you do it up to 48 hours before the rental starts.
- Cancellation Fee: If you cancel less than 48 hours before the pickup time, you have to pay a fee of €50 (or the same amount in the local currency).
- Rental Cost Less Than €50: If the rental cost is less than €50, you will be charged the full amount of the rental instead of just the €50 fee.
- Late Cancellation: If you cancel your reservation late and the rental cost is more than €50, you will only pay a €50 cancellation fee. However, if the rental cost is less than €50, you will have to pay the entire amount of the rental instead of just the €50 fee.
- No-Show Fee: If you do not pick up the car and have not canceled, they will charge you €95 (or the same amount in the local currency). If the rental cost is less than €95, still you have to pay the full rental price. Like, You booked a car for June 10th at 2 PM. To cancel for free, you must do it by 1:59 PM on June 8th or earlier.

Cancellation 30 Days or More Before Rental
If you cancel at least 30 days before your rental starts, you will get a full refund.
Cancellation 20 to 29 Days Before Rental
If you cancel between 20 and 29 days before your rental, you will get a refund minus a cancellation fee. The fee is 10% of what you paid in advance, but it will be at least $50.
Cancellation 14 to 3 Days Before Rental
If you cancel between 14 and 3 days before your rental, you will get a refund minus a 20% cancellation fee. The fee will not be less than $50.
Cancellation Insurance
You can buy Cancellation Insurance for $30. This means you will get a full refund if you cancel up to 24 hours before your rental.
No Refund
You will not get any refund in the following conditions
- Cancellation Less Than 2 Days Before Rental: If you cancel less than 2 days before your rental or if you neither show up nor inform the company in advance, you will not get a refund.
- Early Return Refund: Even if you return the car early and do not use the all days that you are booked for, you will not get any money refunded for unused days or extra items.
The Europcar deposit policy applies to car rentals in various countries, such as Belgium, France, Germany, Italy, Portugal, Spain, and the United Kingdom.
At Pick-Up
When you pick up your rental car, you must leave a deposit, which means an amount will be blocked on your payment card but not taken out. This deposit either happens when you pick up the car or 48 hours before if you check in online. The deposit takes away some of the available money on your card. So, you cannot use that portion of your card’s balance until the deposit is released. It covers extra charges like missing fuel, extra days, extra miles, or one-way fees.

- Not Prepaid Rental: Rental price + deposit amount above.
- Protection Purchased (reduces damage excess): €300.

- Deposit Release Times
- Same Card for Deposit and Payment: 4 working days.
- Different Payment Method: 4 working days.
- Prepaid with Extras Paid on the Same Card: 4 working days.
- Prepaid with Extras Paid on Different Methods: 4 working days.
- Prepaid with No Extras: 4 working days.
- Rental Canceled After Deposit: Up to 30 days.

You can return the car before the date and time mentioned in your rental agreement. When you do this, the rental period will end when you give the car and keys back to a Europcar agent. However, keep in mind that the rental price will not change. You will have to pay for the full rental period and any extras you paid for, even if you return the car early. You will not get any money for unused days or extra items.
